Pigtails & Crewcuts: Haircuts for Kids is open in Parker, Colorado and ready to make haircuts fun and memorable for families in the local community.
Owners Sara and Robert Smith’s path to bringing a Pigtails & Crewcuts salon to the community began when their family relocated to the Denver area for Sara’s job in the hospital and healthcare industry. Like any other family would do, they began looking for local businesses that provided the services their family would need. When it was time for their son to get a haircut, Sara wanted to find local children’s salon but her search didn’t yield the results she hoped for. “There were no kids salons close by like there were in other places we had lived,” Sara shares.
Realizing the void in the marketplace, the Smiths decided to take action and fill it. They began looking at children’s salon franchises and Pigtails & Crewcuts immediately caught their eye. “We liked the look and feel of it. After speaking with Wade Brannon and Michelle Holliman at the franchise headquarters and visiting one of the locations in Colorado, we felt it was the best fit for us,” Robert shares, noting that the Brand, leadership, and support from the franchisor really helped seal the deal for their decision.
“We felt like they were poised for growth across the country and that this was a solid business decision,” Sara adds.
The Smiths agreed to a multi-salon deal and had plans to open their first salon in Castle Rock where no children’s salons existed. As they were looking for the perfect spot for Pigtails & Crewcuts in Castle Rock, they learned of another children’s salon that had recently closed in Parker. The salon had been in the area for years and they saw the newly vacant space as an opportunity for Pigtails & Crewcuts to meet a need in Parker, both in the marketplace and in the business community. During this process, the Smiths also had the opportunity to purchase the franchise’s Northfield-Stapleton salon, bringing the total number of Pigtails & Crewcuts salons in Colorado to five locations.
Once they secured the space in Parker, the Smiths were able to move quickly to transform it to take on the look and feel of Pigtails & Crewcuts with brightly colored walls, vehicle-shaped chairs, and plenty of books, movies, and video games. Paired with friendly stylists, this creates the perfect kid-friendly atmosphere you won’t find in an ordinary salon, and for Sara, that’s what it is all about.
“As a mom, I know giving kids a special, unique experience is important. That’s what we want for our kids. It’s a child-specific experience,” she explains.
In addition to haircuts, Pigtails & Crewcuts offers styling services, a retail section filled with children’s haircare products, accessories, and gifts, as well as a birthday party services with a dedicated party room.
The Smiths are excited to meet the needs of families in the area and make haircuts a more enjoyable experience for children and parents as the only children’s salon in Parker. They also look forward to growing the Pigtails & Crewcuts Brand in the Denver metro area. “We’ll open in Castle Rock sometime next year, and we’ll add an additional salon in Douglas County in the future,” Rob notes.
Pigtails & Crewcuts is located in Parker at 11290 S. Twenty Mile Road next to Panera Bread, facing Target. The salon is open Monday through Saturday from 9:30 am to 7 pm and Sundays from 9:30 am to 5 pm.
