Pigtails & Crewcuts will be making its grand debut in early December 2018 in Los Altos, CA. This kid-centric salon offers a unique, memorable experience for children of all ages in a convenient location in the heart of Silicon Valley.
Sisters-in-law, close friends, and now business partners, Reyna Patel and Sneha Bhavan, are excited to bring something new and much needed to the Peninsula. As moms of young, rambunctious boys, they realized the need for a kid-friendly salon tailored to children all while accommodating parents as well. “It was very hard for us to find a children’s salon where stylists had the patience and personality to handle my two boys,” said Reyna. She continues that “they hated getting haircuts and would constantly be on the move, which made our trip to the salon such an ordeal for everyone.”
Able to relate, as many parents can, Sneha experienced a similar situation with her son. “I vividly remember the time I took my son to a regular salon at the age of three. The sound of the buzzer close to his ears and swift movement of the scissors and combs coming at him from different directions was an experience that scared him. The stylist became aggravated as my son wouldn’t sit still, which didn’t help the already horrible experience.”
These traumatic experiences were the kickstarter that set these moms out on a new venture to find the right children’s hair salon. Realizing the immediate need for a children’s salon in the community, Reyna and Sneha began to research various options and franchises that would align with their own family values. This is when they discovered Pigtails & Crewcuts, a brand they both fell in love with from the start. Pigtails & Crewcuts provides its young, often nervous clientele with fun activities to make the haircutting experience as smooth as possible, for both parents and children. The Los Altos salon will offer the same stress-free experience found at other Pigtails & Crewcuts locations. Children will be able to enjoy a variety of books, movies, toys, video games and choose a theme chair for their haircut. Friendly stylists are trained to handle the fears and tears of all children, including children with sensory issues. The salon will feature a retail section with specialized children’s hair products, accessories and gifts, as well as a private party room.
“It’s not loud. It’s comfortable and classy,” Sneha says of the Pigtails & Crewcuts Brand. “That’s what we liked and what we want to share with our community–a fresh new concept located in the heart of Silicon Valley.”
The salon will be located at 2310 Homestead Road, Suite C in Los Altos near Trader Joe’s and is expected to open in early December 2018. Grand opening festivities will be announced at a later date.
