June 23, 2020, Atlanta, Georgia — Atlanta-based children’s salon franchise Pigtails & Crewcuts will be opening a new location in Peachtree City soon. This will be the franchise’s eighth location in Georgia.
Owner Scott Cook’s journey to becoming a part of the Pigtails & Crewcuts franchise actually began several years ago. After a career as a middle school science teacher, Scott was considering a career shift and took time off to explore what other opportunities might be available. During that time, he experienced a serious injury and as he went through the rehabilitation and recovery process, he knew going back to the classroom would be too physically demanding so he contemplated starting a business.
As he was searching for business ideas, Scott attended a local Kiwanis Club meeting and heard another business owner share her story of working with a franchise broker to find business opportunities. After connecting with the franchise broker, they began looking at the options available and the broker suggested Scott look at hair salon franchises.
“I wasn’t too sure about it at first, because I had no experience with the hair salon industry,” Scott shared, “but that’s when my broker explained the concept of working on my business rather than in it, so I let the idea sink in as I gave hair salons more serious consideration.”
The same weekend he discussed potential franchise businesses with his son and daughter-in-law. “My daughter-in-law mentioned all the fast-food franchises and then mentioned that she had taken my grandson to a really fun hair salon just for kids called Pigtails & Crewcuts. I’ve always loved working with kids and knew I had to learn more about it. My four-year-old grandson is the reason I’m here,” Scott said.
After a quick search, Scott knew Pigtails & Crewcuts would be the best fit for him. From the bright colors on the walls to the themed salon chairs and the brand’s emphasis on making haircuts an enjoyable experience, Scott knew pairing the Pigtails & Crewcuts brand with his love for children would create an unbeatable match. Meeting with the franchise leadership team in Atlanta only further solidified his decision to invest in franchise ownership with Pigtails & Crewcuts. In addition to the Peachtree City location, Scott is planning to open a salon in McDonough in the future.
With the opening of his Peachtree City salon growing closer, Scott is most looking forward to “seeing the smiles on kids’ faces, hearing their laughter, and families just being excited about having a good place to come for haircuts where they know their children will be taken care of. Of course, I’m also looking forward to my two-year-old granddaughter getting her first haircut in Grandpa’s salon,” he shared with a smile.
Pigtails & Crewcuts – Peachtree City is expected to open in mid-July and will be located in The Shops at Lexington Circle between Hand & Stone Massage and Your Pie, just a few doors down from Sprouts Farmers Market.
